The anticipation for TRENDZ's 2nd single album is finally over, the seven-member group released their single album ‘Blue Set Chapter. New Dayz’ 15th March 6 PM (KST)
After the success of their first mini album ‘Vol.1 Blue Set Chapter 1, Tracks’ followed by ‘Blue set Chapter 2. Choice’ and ‘Blue Set Chapter. Unknown Code’. Their groundbreaking moment came with the release of their first single album ‘Blue Set Chapter’ and its lead track “VAGABOND,” following from the previous hit songs “TNT” and “WHO[吼].” “Vagabond” came to life through a collaboration with producer Leez, also known for having worked with prominent artists in the Korean music scene such as Ateez, Dreamcatcher, Yoonha, and N. Flying.
As expected the three-track album packs a punch and carries on the theme of the previous chapter this time accelerated up a notch. The opening track “Nightmare” reflects the greatest fear and that unknown future feeling. For me it's the standout track it grabs you from the opening melodies and fires into a strong chorus.
Each member has a chance to shine on all three tracks, sliding into “New Dayz” the title track and accompanied by the official music video. The punk-pop song tells the story of a boy waking up in the dark and escaping from the fake neverland alone. Dreaming of meeting again beyond the end of this dream, waiting for NEW DAYZ.
What this album does is takes the listener on a journey following a narrative that not only grips you from the start but also showcases how varied these boys are. No defined genre can be pinpointed throughout the album, and that’s what I love about this album. Rounding off is “Fantasy” carrying on the theme of dreaming in a fake neverland, the end is near and escape is achieved. Yet the boy firmly decides to save his friends, still trapped in Neverland.
For those who are new to the band, I highly recommend going through their catalog. Not only will you be encaptured by their charm, but the variety they explore within their music makes them unique within the industry.
TRENDZ's 2nd Single album ‘Blue Set Chapter. New Dayz’ is the last chapter of the (Blue Set) saga that TRENDZ has been promoting since their debut. Besides their extensive catalog, their live performances are just as encapsulating with recent choreography practices showing how in sync they are working in tandem. Debuting in January of 2022, the seven members, Havit, Leon, Yoonwoo, Hankook, ra.L, Eunil, and Yechan are certainly ones to watch.
