[Exclusive Interview] Monster Rookies xikers on Traveling Must-haves and More

Xikers (MinjaeJunminHunterSuminJinsikHyunwooJunghoonSeeunYujunYechan) is a 10-member boy group under KQ Entertainment. They debuted on March 30, 2023, with the extended play "House of Tricky: Doorbell Ringing." The group released their 2nd mini album "House of Tricky: How To Playon August 2, 2023.


The group's name, xikers, is a combination of the letter "x", symbolizing coordinates, and the word "hiker", meaning traveler. Altogether, the group's name refers to "boys who travel through time and space in search of coordinates."

xikers is known for their high-energy performances, catchy songs, and unique concept. Their music is a mix of pop, hip-hop, rock, and electronic music, and their lyrics often deal with themes of self-discovery, adventure, and finding your place in the world.


The group has already gained a significant following in Korea and around the world, and they are quickly becoming one of the most popular new K-pop groups. After performing at KCON LA over the summer, they were excited to meet their American  road𝓨s again, but this time in their own solo concert and to show off various performances. They recently wrapped up their first US tour in six cities which began on October 22 in New York at the Apollo and finished in San Francisco on November 4. KpopWise caught up with xikers ahead of their show in New York.

xikers won The Hottest Award on October 10 at the “The Fact Music Awards 2023” proving their monster rookie status.

What song are you most excited to perform while on tour?

Hunter: Doorbell Ringing

Jinsik: Same

Hunter: The choreography is cool, and it is our first time showing it live for our fans.


What is your must-have item when traveling?

Sumin: Adaptor!

Hyunwoo: A portable humidifier that I always have to bring with me.

Yujun: Earphones

Junmin:  road𝓨s' love!

Sumin: Ramyun

Minjae: Laptop

If you could describe your group's music in three words, what would they be?

Sumin: Energetic, Enjoy and Joyful!

The members laughed, and shouted more suggestions.

What message or theme do you hope to convey to fans through your music?

Yujun: A very positive message

Hyunwoo: When you listen to songs there is a variety of emotions you can feel, I would like people to listen to a certain song and feel a certain way and then be able to feel a dynamic range of emotions while listening to our music.


Can you tell us about your personal fashion preferences or your go-to fashion items?

Yechan: I like a lot of unique items, that look slightly out of place, but fit right in. I have specific items like a pink furry knit hat and sunglasses that are alien-style.


Other members stated they like street fashion, so they tend to go for oversized items.

What can fans expect from your tour?

Yejun: Our live performance. We tend to really enjoy performing on stage so in the live performance that will come through.

Yechan: Firstly, our energy will come out, Junmin and Hunter have a special stage where you are able to see a more mature side to them and possibly their abs!


Junmin and Hunter performed a dance cover of 'Die For You' by The Weeknd. 


What concept do you want to try in the future?

All: OLD SCHOOL

(spelled out) H.I.P H.O.P


It's safe to say road𝓨 can expect to be treated to this sound in the future.
