Just when things couldn’t get any wilder, the girls of KATSEYE are back to stir up even more chaos and excitement with their upcoming EP Beautiful Chaos on June 27th. Hot off their latest track Gnarly, which has grabbed everyone's attention thanks to the bold lyrics and strikingly cool visuals, this new release promises to see another round of hits that will undoubtedly get everyone talking. After their incredibly eye-catching performance on Music Bank that left audiences sitting up and tuning in to just how versatile these girls are. Not afraid to play with sound and diving into something unexpected, KATSEYE continues to make music that is fresh, hard to ignore, and, importantly, fun, something that feels missing in K-pop right now.
The EP explores the idea of forging meaningful connections, up close and afar, in a world that moves too fast. It’s about putting on lipstick as their armour, ready to embrace the unknown. BEAUTIFUL CHAOS presents the clearest picture of who KATSEYE truly is and the powerful force they are quickly becoming. Looking ahead, the group isn’t chasing numbers, trophies or charts, but the mark they want to leave behind. “We want KATSEYE to be timeless and to have a lasting influence. Not just for now — we want forever," the group shares.
The lead single, Gnarly, which was released last week, had reviewers praising the track for its chaotic, campy flair and applauded the group for stepping into an edgier sound out of their comfort zone. Manon admitted to The Fader that “I don't think anyone is expecting this,” which proved to be a bit of an understatement. While the track divided many on their first listen, cut to just a week later, and it's a sound no one can get out of their heads with that incredibly catchy confident chorus.
The track thrives on its lack of traditional structure – focusing purely on vibes – and the visuals mirror back that energy. Lara describes it perfectly. “I feel like Gnarly is so chaotic; it's also vulnerable in a way. There's so much stimulation that comes from the song, and it's really about being young women growing up on the internet.“ She continues, “We all grew up with social media, with our phones around us. It's hard to remember a world where I didn't have my phone. [The song] ties into that and how confusing that can be and how blurry the digital world and the real world can get and how random it is. It's going to be such a gag coming from Touch.” And a gag it truly was, throwing out a curveball from past tracks like Debut and Touch. Echoing the chaos and virality that gripped many with fun campaigns like Charli XCX’s Brat Summer, KATSEYE look set to create one all of their own.

Directed by Cody Critcheloe, the official video quickly shot to number one on YouTube's trending for music, with views surpassing over 8 million. There is no doubt that this is KATSEYE’s year, and they are on their own path made up of confident young women who are self-assured and ready to carve out their own sound while being unapologetically themselves in the process, and that, that is Gnarly indeed.
Be sure to follow the girls on all social media channels. Gnarly is out on all streaming platforms, with Beautiful Chaos available for pre-order on all online retail outlets.
