izna makes their exciting comeback with “BEEP”, a bold new single that compares the thrill of falling in love to an emergency alarm. The tracklist, featuring both a Korean and a Japanese version of the song, truly lives up to its promise as your ultimate teen pop soundtrack for the summer. With its infectious energy and catchy hooks, BEEP is ready to turn your summer into a teen movie.
Bold, confident, and charming, the seven-member girl group izna (이즈나) consists of Mai, Bang Jeemin, Yoon Jiyoon, Koko, Ryu Sarang, Choi Jungeun, and Jeong Saebi. izna were selected from the audition program ‘I-LAND 2: N/α’ between Mnet and THEBLACKLABEL that ended in July 2024. Produced by Teddy Park and currently managed by WakeOne, the group debuted on November 25, 2024. Unfortunately, member Yoon Jiyoon is currently on hiatus as of February 2025 due to health-related reasons, and as a result, promotions for “BEEP” are being carried out by the remaining six members.
Their debut mini-album “N/α”, meaning “Me” in Korean, aimed to spread the message of girls with infinite potential who are committed to overcome their fears and push through their limits, while challenging a new world. The stylistic use of the Greek letter “α” in the album title did not go unnoticed by the author; a witty and phonetically accurate detail that is often misapplied in pop aesthetics, but surprisingly not here. For izna, it’s intentional and meaningful. This playful and clever choice not only enhanced the album’s visual appeal, but also added a unique layer of identity to the group, making this concept all the more effective and satisfying.
The title track “IZNA” blended powerful energy with bubblegum pop elements in a way that just hits the spot, especially with its insanely catchy chorus that was stuck in our heads for days. I’d be lying if I said I don’t break into the song myself every time I type the word “IZNA”. On March 31, 2025, izna released their first digital single “SIGN”, ranking high on major domestic and international charts. So needless to say, if you enjoyed their previous releases, “BEEP” with its trendy dance sound that transitions from lyrics about the rush of love to a full-blown emergency alarm, won’t just live in your head rent-free... it might start charging you for the lease.
Ahead of their comeback, izna released a whole moodboard of stunning concept photos: everything from ethereal and preppy to full-on chic rock. A Ver. focused on soft, dream-like aesthetics, with the members showcasing a delicate yet intense side. They also embraced a more edgy concept in the B Ver. photos, featuring leather jackets and jeans set against a suburban backdrop, along with a more playful concept set in a burger restaurant. While B Ver. highlighted a fresh and fun side of the group, C Ver. took a sweet and lovely approach, presenting the members in hyper-girly, hyper-nostalgic looks by incorporating school-uniform-inspired outfits with cream and grey jackets and vests, plaid skirts, knee-high socks, and a photobooth for that extra nostalgic touch. One thing’s for sure: izna moves effortlessly from dreamy aesthetics to edgy leather jackets to teen-movie vibes, and confidence to match.
Alongside the digital single, izna released a limited edition physical release, offered exclusively through curated Korean and international retailers. The limited edition QR Album Version of “BEEP” comes packed with merch and bonus items: a heart-shaped tote bag, a hairbrush and heart-shaped keyring, a voice QR card and the QR album, as well as unique member photocards. A girl group that takes sugar, spice, and everything nice quite literally, and we are just living for it. Needless to say, before it even hit streaming platforms, the physical edition of “BEEP” sold out on PlusChat and Ktown4u, thanks to overwhelming fan demand.
As for “BEEP” itself, it’s the ultimate crush anthem: a song about the rush of falling in love during those first electrifying moments. The girls sing about needing CPR as their hearts “beep” faster because of their love interest. The track features a catchy chorus and an even more infectious hook, with bright synths and playful rhythms blending together seamlessly. And if that’s not enough to get you hooked, the rap parts, featuring impactful lines like “I wear my heart on my sleeve” and “Better call 9-1-1”, will definitely have you singing along.
The music video, released on June 9th, features all the locations previously shown in the concept photos, tying izna’s storyline and branding strategy into a cohesive, effective, and well-rounded visual narrative. From soft, ethereal outdoor shots to light-hearted and joyful diner scenes, the MV captures the essence of youthful infatuation and teen nostalgia. Soft pinks alternate with light blues and mellow yellows as the members call each other on the phone, comfort one another, cutely stress over the person who has caught their interest, and try to avoid the inevitable emergency caused by crush-overload.
