Group OMEGA X has launched their first sub-unit, OX:N, with the release of their debut EP titled "N" on June 20, 2025. The sub-unit consists of four members: Jaehan, Xen, Jehyun, and Yechan, bringing a fresh dynamic and sound to the group's musical portfolio.
The name OX:N carries deep symbolic meaning, with the 'N' representing both the Roman numeral IV for the four unit members and the mathematical concept of an unknown variable 'n,' signifying the infinite possibilities that lie ahead for both the sub-unit and OMEGA X as a whole. This creative naming choice reflects the group's forward-thinking approach and their commitment to exploring new artistic territories within their musical journey.
The five-track EP showcases a diverse range of musical styles and themes. The collection opens with "SUIT&TIE," exploring the contrast between outward composure and inner romantic turmoil, followed by the English language title track "YOU," which delivers Y2K-inspired pop with a funky, retro melody about devotion in love.
The album features member Xen's compositional contribution on "LET ME IN," an emotional piece about post-breakup regret and hope for new love, while "ORPHEUS" draws inspiration from Greek mythology to express longing through soulful vocals.
The EP concludes with "CAUSE OF YOU," a rock track composed and arranged by leader Jaehan that captures the intensity of romantic reunion while serving as a heartfelt message of gratitude to their fanbase, FOR X, who have supported them through difficult times.
With their debut EP "N" showcasing such a diverse range of musical influences—from the Y2K-inspired funk of "YOU" to the mythological depths of "ORPHEUS"—OX:N has clearly established themselves as artists willing to experiment and draw from various eras and genres. This creative versatility and openness to different musical landscapes naturally led to a question about their inspirations and imagination. KpopWise participated in a rountable meeting with media colllegues and the group. When asked about their Y2K influences and given the opportunity to dream big, the members revealed both their musical heroes.
KW: If you could invite a Y2K-era singer to remix "YOU," who would you choose?
Yechan: There are two people we really respect. First is Justin Timberlake, who inspired us with his choreography. Even though he's still active now, the vibe from his earlier days left a strong impression on us. And then there's Michael Jackson. If I imagine what "YOU" would've sounded like in Michael Jackson's voice, I would go insane.
OMEGA X are not only known for their talent but also for their humor, and OX:N is no different. Ahead of the album release, the group took on the personas of a corporate team from a fictional entity "XN Corporation" and created variety content about developing ideas for the concept of their new album. The comedic energy of the members shines through.
Their playful creativity extends beyond music—they're natural entertainers who can slip into any role with ease and wit. So when presented with an entirely different scenario, their responses reveal both their individual personalities and their instinctive teamwork, showing how seamlessly they adapt their dynamic to any situation, whether it's performing on stage or running a hypothetical business venture.
KpopWise: If OX:N were running their own restaurant, what would be each member's job and what would be the signature dish?
Jaehan: I would be the head chef.
Yechan: He said he wants to be the head chef.
Jaehan: The signature dish would be a fried egg. It's my favorite.
Yechan: Then I would be the manager who welcomes customers at the front. I would like to sell burgers with Jaehan's fried eggs.
Xen: I could help with valet parking outside because I'm a good driver.
Jehyun: I will be the CEO/owner who hired everyone. I'll manage everything.
