Former NCT member Moon Taeil received a 3.5-year prison sentence on July 10 after being found guilty of sexual assault. The 31-year-old was immediately taken into custody by the Seoul Central District Court, along with two co-defendants who received identical sentences.
The three men faced charges for sexually assaulting an intoxicated foreign woman in Seoul in June of the previous year. They had been indicted in March but remained free until sentencing.
In addition to imprisonment, the court mandated that all three complete a 40-hour sexual violence rehabilitation program. The judge emphasized the severity of their actions, noting that the victim's intoxicated state left her defenseless.
While prosecutors had sought seven-year sentences during earlier proceedings, the court ultimately imposed the shorter terms. Taeil was removed from the group NCT in August of 2024 following police questioning about the assault allegations.
