A vibrant twinkle of WENEE's lightsticks lit up the darkness, at Helsinki’s Kulttuuritalo - Aalto Hall on September 27 as the fans waited with an anticipation that could only mean one thing: WONHO was in town.
Opening with "Better Than Me" it was clearly evident that indeed no one does it better than WONHO. The night erupted with the powerful synths and driving beat of “Eye On You.” WONHO emerged, a vision of charismatic intensity, immediately commanding the stage.
His sharp choreography was synchronized perfectly with his backup dancers, creating a dynamic and visually stunning opening that sent waves of exhilaration through the captivated audience.
Demonstrating his impressive range, the mood seamlessly shifted from high-octane pop to sultry R&B. Tracks like “Losing You” showcased the smoother, more vulnerable side of his artistry. His rich, stable vocals filled the venue, proving that his talent extends far beyond impressive dance moves and into genuine, heartfelt performance.
A true highlight was the artist's genuine interaction with his fans. He won over the crowd completely by weaving the Finnish language throughout the night, confidently using phrases like “No niin mennään!” to kick off songs and showering fans with heartfelt “Kiitos” and “Rakastan teitä.” This dedicated effort to connect on a local level created an incredibly warm and appreciative atmosphere.
The concert’s playful peak arrived during a lively fan interaction segment. WONHO, with a mischievous grin, treated the audience to a series of iconic poses, from flexing his amazing biceps to forming playful bunny ears with his hands. He then orchestrated a hilarious showdown, making the crowd vote with their cheers for either “Sexy WONHO” or “Cutie WONHO,” a moment that perfectly showcased his dual charm.
This deep bond was further immortalized by a beautiful fan project from WENEEs. During a poignant ballad, the crowd raised a sea of signs displaying stunning northern lights photos, accompanied by the message that even when far apart, they are always under the same sky with WONHO. The artist paused, visibly touched by the gesture, which spoke volumes of their mutual devotion.
As the final notes of the anthemic “BLUE” faded, the air was thick with a mix of exhaustion and euphoria. WONHO took a final, sweeping bow, visibly moved by the unwavering support. The connection forged in that room was undeniable, a testament to the power of his performance and the dedication of his fans.
Leaving the venue, the buzz among WENEE was universal: WONHO had not just met expectations, but had spectacularly exceeded them. He delivered a masterclass in modern performance, blending athleticism, vocal prowess, and sincere fan connection.
As the finale of the European tour, Helsinki was left with a powerful memory and, undoubtedly, a promise from fans to welcome him back whenever he returns.
