KUN, the celebrated multi-hyphenate singer, producer, fashion icon, and global pop sensation hailing from China, has released his new single “What a Day” via 88rising. The celebratory retro-soul pop groove was recorded live to tape, inspired by the joyous energy of his SOLD OUT LA concert at The Fonda in August 2025. It continues his striking new era, which hears an evolution in his sound blending modern production with the timeless textures of classic soul and vintage rock, and showcasing his expansive vocal range with English lyrics.
“What a Day” is paired with a lavish music video evoking the behind the scenes of extravagant Old Hollywood musical sets. The one-shot perfectly choreographed spectacle was filmed in London.
KUN says of the song,
“‘What a Day’ is about appreciating the simple, ordinary moments in life. We recorded the song to tape to capture the energy of the live band and nod to some of the great artists who have shaped me. I want the listener to feel like they are in the studio with us.”
KUN made his international debut in Spring 2025 with the release of “Deadman,” his first release under the pioneering global music and media company 88rising. Funk-influenced romantic single “Jasmine” followed in Summer as well as major US performances including the sold out Fonda Theatre headlining concert and sets at Head In The Clouds Festivals in NYC and LA.
KUN continues to make waves across Asia, further cementing his influence in the region. He was recently honoured as All-Round Artist of the Year at JOOX’s Top Music Night in Bangkok and headlined the inaugural Bubbling & Boiling Festival in Singapore. Beyond music, KUN has also expanded his fashion footprint through collaborations with Gentle Monster, where he appeared at their new concept store HAUS NOWHERE in Seoul, as well as Charlotte Tilbury’s global makeup ambassador and Mugler Fragrances’ global ambassador. Most recently, he attended Mugler’s show at Paris Fashion Week, underscoring his status as a global icon bridging music and style.
