K-pop girl group ITZY is back with their second Japanese studio album, Collector. The 10-track album includes five new songs and rerecorded tracks with all five members after the return of Lia. This album also includes Japanese versions of the songs “GOLD,” “Imaginary Friend," and “Girls Will Be Girls.”
ROCK & ROLL
ITZY’s title track, “ROCK & ROLL,” is about being independent and confident, breaking away from the path set in front of you, and moving to your own rhythm. They convey this message through the chorus, “Break the frames and step right out/Let’s move forward,” encouraging listeners to be themselves and not let anyone tell them otherwise. Their music video reinforces this message by showing the group breaking out of the world they're trapped in and becoming happier living in a world of color.
I.I.Know Me
The second song from Collector, “I.I.Know Me,” delivers a message of self-confidence and freedom, creating an anthem of staying true to yourself. Staying authentic to their identity even when outside pressure wants them to change. The lyrics emphasize this with “I let them float and just fade,” expressing that idea of letting chatter stay chatter.
Out of Season:
“Out of Season” is about a one-sided love that is unable to share those feelings with another. Wishing that the other person knew about these feelings, where the lyric “I want you to know know know” is repeated throughout the song. Holding these feelings back creates a sense of longing and pain, knowing the other will never know or reciprocate those feelings.
Trigger
“Trigger” tells the story about being provoked and telling them to come fight them, or in other words, “shoot them in the heart.” With a powerful message, it’s a slower, more unique sound. With strong vocals and a jazz-like feel, it’s a different sound for ITZY.
Wind Ride
“Wind Ride” is about embracing what makes you, while also being ready to go on the journey ahead of you. Going with the wind and seeing what’s ahead, even though the environment may change, the person you are won’t. This upbeat track and easy lyrics are the perfect way to conclude the release of their newer Japanese songs.
The rest of the tracks are Japanese versions of their already released Korean tracks. While also releasing the final versions of "Algorhythm" and “No Biggie,” which is a rerecorded version of all five members. Collector is out wherever you stream music.
