After their debut EP, “UNCUT GEM,” KiiiKiii is back with their latest EP, “Delulu Pack.” The five-member girl group is made up of Jiyu, Haum, Leesol, Sui, and Kya. Their latest release marks a new era for the group, focusing on the delusions and making them a reality. The release included six new tracks, with one being produced by Tablo.
The title, “404 (New Era)” represents this reality, with a message about empowerment of living by one’s own will. The number “404” is an internet error code translating to something not being found. In the song, it symbolizes the freedom that comes from not operating by others’ standards. This song is influenced by the 90s with elements of house as well.
The music video matches the song's theme by asking questions relating to who they want to be and questioning if it’s right. Until they find the path they want to follow at the end. This high-energy track has gained much attention and praise for the 2000s-inspired aesthetic.
This song became widely known as they are currently dominating the charts. It reached No. 1 on Melon’s HOT100, but also ranked high on multiple streaming platforms and apps. That includes No. 1 on YouTube’s trending music, No. 2 on Bugs; real time chart, and No.8 on South Korean Spotify. They also become a part of multiple top K-pop lists in multiple countries, showing that KiiiKiii is one to watch this year.
“Mungnyang” is one of the more playful tracks on the mini-album as it combines Korean onomatopoeia for both cat and dog sounds. It features a hip-hop beat with an energetic rap and vocals. Even though it has a more powerful sound than the other tracks, it still carries that dream-like sound.
The third song on the EP, “UNDERDOGS,” has a strong and powerful message about being resilient even when others undervalue you. With a fun and catchy sound, KiiiKiii is showcasing their fighting spirit together as they “steal the scene.” This song has multiple highlight points, but the one that stands out the most is in the chorus when they say “Watch me when you fight, you fight, you fight/ I’ll see you highl-i-i-i-light , the light, the light.” Bringing that energetic energy the entire time this song is embracing the meaning of believing in yourself.
“Dizzy” is the fourth track on the EP focuses on the idea of everyday life not knowing if it’s real or delusions. Following the theme of the album, this song follows the “dream-like” aesthetic by questioning everything around you. The chorus has a bubbly feeling with the lyrics being “Oops excuse me/ I’m so Dizzy” making that part become a focus in the song. Although it has a hip-hop beat the song has a soft and vocal approach to it.
The final song on the EP, “To Me From Me (produced by Tablo)” is a letter to one’s self. It is seen as a retro-pop track, as well as a ballad. This song has a personal message behind it, where Tablo was inspired by his own daughter. The focus being on the worries one faces and overcoming them even when it’s hard. This song is one of the most emotional songs on the EP, as it has lyrics that give hope to the listener with many of the lyrics highlighting the small steps one takes.
