Rookie group TUNEXX has returned with their 2nd EP Album "BLUE MODE" on September 2.
Seven young individuals trust the path they chose for themselves rather than standards set by others. The imperfect signals broadcast on their respective frequencies eventually reach one another, overlap, and return as a unified resonance. In the moment those previously ineffable sensations align, the uncertainty of youth transforms into the conviction of "us." "BLUE MODE" is a record of the excitement and joy experienced by these seven youths as they synchronize their trajectories.
TUNEXX’s second mini-album, "BLUE MODE", intuitively captures the emotional depth and atmosphere the group aims to convey. Featuring four tracks—including the title song "BLUE MODE"—the album traverses diverse genres such as UKG House, R&B Trap Soul, Hip-Hop Soul, and Electronic Pop, demonstrating TUNEXX’s broadened musical spectrum.
Notably, this album highlights the distinct presence and musical growth of the members. Following their previous release, Donggyu, Jeon, and Sihwan actively participated in writing lyrics, while Inhu and Tyra also added their names to the credits, showcasing an expanded range of musical capabilities. Furthermore, Jeon took charge of the rap making for 'ANSWER,' infusing the track with TUNEXX’s signature sincerity and authentic storytelling.
'SYNC UP' is a UKG House track characterized by a blend of modal, dreamy chord progressions and a distinctive rhythm. The track stands out for the harmonious combination of a sophisticated instrumental and TUNEXX’s refreshing vocals. The lyrics capture the excitement felt when overcoming hesitation and finally aligning one's emotions and timing with another person.
The title track, 'BLUE MODE,' is a hip-hop style song with a hybrid structure that begins as R&B trap soul and transitions into breakbeat drums. TUNEXX’s groovy vocals and rap complement the track—which is simultaneously smooth and weighty—to create a polished sound. 'BLUE MODE' represents the moment one finally confronts their honest emotions, metaphorically expressed through the imagery of a night so dark it is tinged with blue.
'ANSWER' is a hip-hop soul track reminiscent of 90s R&B, featuring a tasteful blend of lyrical chord progressions and sound design. This track was newly created by expanding upon the outro theme of the previous title song, "Proof That I'm Alive." TUNEXX’s signature delicate, emotive vocals and rap enhance the song's immersive quality. The lyrics depict the process of embracing—and eventually letting go of—memories and the emotions that resurface whenever it rains.
'OVER X' is an electronic pop song characterized by a blend of intense yet laid-back drums and glitch-style synthesizers. It combines TUNEXX’s dynamic vocals and rhythmic rap with a track that features two contrasting themes. 'OVER X' embodies the determination that, by standing together, one can move beyond the unknown "X" toward a place—or a realm of possibility—undefined by anyone else.
Meanwhile, TUNEXX has begun full-scale promotion of the songs on various music programs.
