SBS MTV's "The Show" Launches Global Special Stage Segment

With tonight's 305th episode of the long-running South Korean weekly music show SBS MTV's "The Show", an interesting new segment was launched.

"Music is the key of bringing the world together."

With a quick introduction from show host Yeosang, and almost no warning it was happening, the segment, known as "Global Special Stage" introduced British pop trio New Hope Club, performing their latest single "Getting Better".

Bringing in global artists from around the world to South Korea, and allowing them to promote their music on the famous weekly music shows is not unheard of before - Lady Gaga has performed on Mnet's "M Countdown", Christina Aguilera performed on SBS' "Inkigayo", and Jason Derulo performed on KBS' "Music Bank - it does appear to be the first instance of this being made as a regular occurrence on a show.

In fact, this isn't even New Hope Club's first K-pop music show appearance, having been on "M Countdown" with "Know Me Too Well" in 2019.

Next week's episode of "The Show" will see global superstar sensation Conan Gray performing. Make sure to tune in to The K-POP on YouTube next Tuesday at 6:00 pm KST to watch.
