In late 2022, BIGHIT MUSIC announced the BTS members plans to enlist in the military for the coming years. After seeing off the oldest member Jin on December 13th, fans have been speculating when the other members would follow suit.

On February 26th, BIGHIT MUSIC broke the silence on who will be next, by posting the following statement on Weverse:

"Hello.
This is BIGHIT MUSIC.

We would like to inform our fans that J-hope has initiated the military enlistment process by applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement.

We will inform you of further updates in due course.

We ask you for your continued love and support for J-hope until he completes his military service and safely returns. Our company will spare no effort in providing support for our artist.

Thank you."

After just being announced as the new House Ambassador for Louis Vuitton, and the release of his documentary "Jack in the Box" on Disney+, ARMY's were surprised to hear that J-Hope would be next to enlist. The artist took to Weverse live to reassure fans that while he won't be leaving right away, he will return soon and even teased on future projects.

Later in the day, BIGHIT MUSIC released another statement announcing that he will be releasing a solo single titled "On the Street" which is set to be released on Friday March 3rd at 2 PM KST. The title serves as a reference to J-Hope's past as a street dancer, and is intended to be a "meaningful gift" to fans where he shares his "candid feelings."

Fans now await further news on enlistment details, but for now, are highly anticipating the development of the solo project.
