Cherry Blossoms After Winter, Under the Oak Tree, and More to be Published by INKLORE


Penguin Random House
will launch INKLORE, a new global pop-comics imprint dedicated to publishing the best in manga, manhua, manhwa, webcomics adaptations, and light novels. It was announced on June 28, by Scott Shannon, EVP & Publisher, Random House Worlds. 

The first project to be published under the INKLORE colophon will be My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999, a  gamer rom-com manga series by Mashiro, originally published in Japanese by ComicSmart. The first volume is scheduled for release in early 2024. The deal was brokered by Rebecca Taylor at Inklore with Mangamo for World English rights. In addition to My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999, INKLORE has announced the following projects  as part of its initial slate of acquisitions:

Under the Oak Tree is a fantasy romance novel by KIM Suji, originally published in Korean by RIDI  Corporation. The novel has been adapted into a webcomic, adapted and illustrated by Seomal, namu, &  P. The webcomic is currently being published both in Korean and English by RIDI and Manta, content  publishing platforms of RIDI Corporation. The deal for the World English rights has been brokered by RIDI  Corporation, with the first volume of the novel scheduled for release in Summer 2024. 

Cherry Blossoms After Winter, a childhood-friends-to-lovers BL manhwa by Bamwoo, originally published in Korean. First volume is scheduled for early 2024. Deal brokered by Tappytoon for World English rights. 

The newly created INKLORE imprint will be led in the U.S. by Keith Clayton, VP & Deputy Publisher,  Random House Worlds. Editorial oversight of the imprint will be driven by Rebecca "Tay" Taylor, Editorial  Director. In the UK, the program will be spearheaded by Ben Brusey, Publishing Director at Century, with  Kate McHale, Senior Commissioning Editor at Del Rey UK, leading the editorial vision. Both teams are  acquiring books for both domestic and global publication distribution. This combined US and UK INKLORE team will also be working closely with colleagues in Penguin Random House North Asia, with the goal of  bringing the voices of international creators and storytellers to an eager global audience of readers.
