BoA is Back with Single 'Emptiness'

Pioneering K-pop icon and trailblazer BoA has released her new single ‘Emptiness’ via SM Entertainment on March 26.

A break-up banger with an Afrobeats-inspired beat, ‘Emptiness’ conveys a journey of self-healing from betrayal and heartbreak, melding BoA’s ethereal vocal performance with magnetic production and empowering lyrics.

The bittersweet track is written and arranged by the K-pop legend herself, who continues to expand her creative input as she builds on a legacy that already includes millions of album sales worldwide and multiple music award wins.

Renowned for her dance performance prowess, fans will be thrilled to see the “Queen of K-pop” dazzle in emotive choreography that is highlighted by a move that portrays wiping away tears while sobbing on one’s shoulders.

Emptiness’ follows BoA’s 2022 six-track EP, “Forgive Me”, which earned four-stars from NME, describing the project as a mix of “thrilling energy and gritty atmosphere” that “refreshes expectations of what kind of artist she can still grow into.”

Making her debut in 2000 at the age of just 13, BoA has gone on to become one of most beloved pop icons in all of Asia. From breaking barriers by being one of the first K-pop acts to break the Japanese market to being a role model to generations of younger artists, BoA continues to cement her legacy in the fast-paced world of pop. Her ability to sing in multiple languages has allowed her success to span all of Asia, a pioneer of the K-pop boom in Asia.

BoA’s status as one of K-pop’s most influential artists has seen her take on mentoring roles on screen (as a coach on The Voice of Korea) and off. She served as Artistic Director on the reality show NCT Universe : LASTART, which formed the new SM Entertainment boyband NCT WISH, and has taken on the role of producer for the recently-launched rookie group. BoA also headed up the label’s female supergroup project GOT the beat, which saw her performing with Girls’ Generations’s TAEYEON and HYO, Red Velvet’s WENDY and SEULGI and aespa’s KARINA and WINTER. They released their first mini album “Stamp On It” last year, reaching Top 3 on the South Korean album charts.
