JUSTB has released their fifth EP album "SNOW ANGEL," and music video for their title track 'TRUE HEART,' marking a daring new chapter in their artistic evolution.
A Sonic Experiment at the Intersection of K-pop and Hyperpop
"SNOW ANGEL" represents a bold departure from conventional K-pop formulas, produced by Creative Labs '808hertz®' under the direction of Executive Producer O Kwon. O Kwon spearheaded the album's overall concept development and sound direction, carefully curating a lineup of rising global artists from the hyperpop and alternative hip-hop/R&B scenes. The collaborative roster includes Forgotten Melodies (tonser, The Bird), heyzuko!, Meiiny, and Pank.
JUSTB member GEONU played a pivotal role in the album's creative process, serving as a bridge between the international songwriters and the group. He guided the members' participation and maintained close communication with the writers to elevate the project's overall quality. The visual direction was handled by Bain, with choreography created by SANGWOO and LIM JIMIN, and composition by DY.
Where Digital Chaos Meets Refined Emotion
The album explores uncharted sonic territory, blending K-pop's characteristic emotional depth with the anarchic energy of hyperpop's digital soundscape. Distorted synths clash with metallic, distortion-layered drums while crystal-clear melodies cut through the chaos, creating a delicate balance between beauty and disorder.
According to the creative team, the goal was to break away from K-pop's traditional formula and reveal authentic emotions within distortion, noise, and imperfection. The album reinterprets hyperpop's aesthetic, where chaos transforms into beauty—through K-pop's emotional lens, creating something entirely new.
"SNOW ANGEL" tells a story of contrasts: warmth meeting cold, love colliding with loss, and the human blending with the digital. It's a narrative that captures the complexity of modern emotions in an increasingly digital world.
'TRUE HEART' most directly expresses the album's overall message: "A heart that strives to remain true even in a cold world." The magnificent sound and inner confession intertwine to leave a lasting impression on the listener.
