[Exclusive] Interview ode (오드) Discusses Colors and Plans for 2022

ode (오드) is a rock band which debuted in 2019. Their music expresses an array of sentiments and emotions with tender vocals. They most recently released their third album “Colors” on January 18, 2022. The band shows a special relationship with their fans all over the world and even used fans’ photos to create the music video for the song ‘Diana’ on the album. KpopWise was able to speak with the band despite their busy schedule to get to know them better and introduce ode to more Korean rock fans.

ode (오드) es una banda de rock que debutó en 2019. Su música expresa una serie de sentimientos y emociones con voces tiernas. Recientemente lanzaron su tercer álbum "colors", el 18 de enero de 2022. La banda muestra una relación especial con sus fans de todo el mundo e incluso utilizó las fotos de dichos fans para crear el vídeo musical de la canción 'diana'. KpopWise pudo hablar con la banda a pesar de su apretada agenda para conocerla mejor y darles a conocer a más fans del rock coreano.

 

Hello ode! It is a pleasure to meet you. Can you introduce yourselves to Kpopwise readers?

Dignified, passionate, and sometimes meditative

Ode that permeates softly and deeply like a poem

We debuted as a band with the 2019 EP Album "To Youth."

So far in 2022, we have released three EP albums, two singles, and various contests.

ode is consisting of Vocalist Si-in, Guitarist Seung Hyun, Drummer Young Jun, and Bassist Je Kyung. It features mournful vocals and dreamy sounds unique to the band.

2019년 EP Album ‘to youth’로 데뷔한 밴드 ode

2022년 현재까지 3장의 EP 앨범과, 2장의 싱글 앨범, 각종 경연대회에 참여하여 입상했습니다.

 

보컬 시인, 기타 승현, 드럼 영준, 베이스 제경

으로 구성되어 있으며

애절한 보컬과 밴드 특유의 몽환적인 사운드가 특징입니다.

Dignos, apasionados y a veces reflexivos.

Ode se impregna suave y profundamente como un poema

Debutamos como banda con el álbum EP de 2019 "To Youth".

En lo que va de 2022, hemos lanzado tres álbumes EP, dos singles, y participado en varios concursos.

Ode está formado por la vocalista Si-in, el guitarrista Seung Hyun, el batería Young Jun y el bajista Je Kyung. Se caracteriza por letras melancólicas y sonidos de ensueño exclusivos de la banda.

What inspired you to begin your musical journey?

We started because we wanted to tell the stories that we wanted to tell to an unspecified number of people.

우리가 전하고자 하는 이야기들을 불특정다수에게 전달하고 싶어서 시작을 하게됬습니다. 

 

What does ode's creative process consist of?

Rather than having a direct influence, we focus on indirect experiences through various media. We are making works.

우리는 직접적인 영향보단 영화나 책, 뉴스등

여러 매체들을 통한 간접적인 경험을 위주로

작품들을 만들어 가고 있습니다.

 ¿Qué os inspiró para comenzar vuestra andadura musical?

Empezamos porque queríamos transmitir emociones a un gran número de personas.

Can you tell us about the "Colors" album? 

We wanted to talk about many things like the album name "colors."

As a result, hopeful and pessimistic messages coexist in this album.

앨범명 ‘colors’와 같이 여러 가지 이야기를 하고싶었고,

그로인해 희망적인 메시지와, 비관적인 메시지가 공존하는 앨범입니다.

¿Podéis hablarnos del álbum "Colors"? 

Queríamos hablar de muchas cosas como el nombre del álbum "colores".

Por ello, en este álbum conviven mensajes esperanzadores y pesimistas.

Do you have any other hobbies or non-music related talents?

Si-in and Young Jun enjoy sports activities such as soccer and basketball.

Seung Hyun and Je Kyung usually enjoy playing games during break time.

Si-in, Young Jun 은 구기종목 (축구, 농구) 등의 스포츠 활동을 취미로 하고있고,

Seung Hyun, Je Kyung 는 휴식시간에 게임을 주로 즐기고 있습니다.

 ¿Tenéis otras aficiones o talentos no relacionados con la música?

Si-in y Young Jun disfrutan de actividades deportivas como el fútbol y el baloncesto.

A Seung Hyun y Je Kyung les suele gustar jugar videojuegos durante el tiempo de descanso.

What is a funny moment that you remember? 

I was driving down the highway to film "Danger" for MBC Culture Concert. 

I found a rest area where spicy pork over rice was delicious, so I drove hard withstanding hunger. But the rest area didn't sell spicy pork rice anymore, so we all remember being in despair.

 

이번에 MBC 문화콘서트 '난장' 을 촬영하러 고속도로를 운전해서 내려가던중

제육덮밥이 맛있다는 휴게소를 찾아서 배고픈걸 참고 열심히 운전했습니다.

그런데 그 휴게소에서 제육덮밥을 더이상 판매하지 않아서 저희 모두가 절망했던 기억이 있습니다.

 ¿Cuál es un momento divertido que recordáis? 

Estábamos conduciendo por la autopista para grabar "Danger" para el Concierto de Cultura de la MBC. 

Vimos un área de descanso donde la carne de cerdo picante sobre el arroz era deliciosa, así que condujimos rápido aguantando el hambre. Pero el área de descanso ya no vendía ese plato, fue desesperante.

What is something you want to learn?

Si-in: Boxing

Seung Hyun: Fishing

Young Jun: Pilates

Je Kyung: Skydiving

Si-in : 복싱

Seung Hyun : 낚시

Young Jun : 필라테스

Je Kyung : 스카이다이빙

What is life your motto?

Si-in : JUST DO IT

Seung Hyun : Go getter

Young Jun : Realize one's dream

Je Kyung : Never mind if it doesn't work

Si-in: Simplemente hazlo.

Seung Hyun : ¡A por ello!

Young Jun : Hacer realidad mis sueños.

Je Kyung : Si no funciona, no te agobies.

We are planning to release two single albums and perform solo in 2022.
