Episode 3 Recap

Another Thursday night on Mnet . . . another two hours of prime-time competition between six amazing teams of girls.

The second round is set to begin, with the competition facing the teams being the ultimate cover song battle. Teams that have been paired together must cover a song by their competitors, as they compete with one of their own.

At the end of the second episode, it was revealed that the pairings for the second round would see song swaps between Hyolyn and LOONA, WJSN and VIVIZ, and Brave Girls and Kep1er.

And, as the winner for the first round, Hyolyn was also given the opportunity to choose the running order for the second round. She eventually decided on the following order:

  1. WJSN
  2. LOONA
  3. Brave Girls
  4. VIVIZ
  5. Kep1er
  6. Hyolyn

How will the second round be scored?

In this second set of preliminary performances, the points system used will be the same as in the first round. Here's how that breaks down:

Live audience votes - 6,000 points

The live, in-person audiences will vote for what they believe to be the best performance of the round, including votes from the special guest audience - members of former Queendom, Road to Kingdom, and Kingdom competitors AOA, (G)I-dle, The Boyz, Pentagon, Oneus, and TO1. This will make up 60% of the score for the round.

Global audience votes - 3,000 points

An international jury of K-pop fans from more than seventy countries around the world, who watched the performances live, will also cast their votes, worth 30% of the overall score for the round.

Self-evaluation - 1,000 points

In an assessment from the other Queendom acts, each act will be compared, for a total of 10% of the score for this second round.

The first three stages

WJSN open the night for the second round of performances.

During the portion of the episode showcasing their path to the second round, it shows them embracing the broken hourglass, with plans to use it in the performance, and Starship Entertainment labelmates MONSTA X's Joohoney and Hyungwon coming over to give them advice.

WJSN came to the stage covering GFRIEND's "Navillera", with staging showcasing a continuation of the visual storytelling they began in the first round.

LOONA are the second group to perform in the second round of the competition.

In the lead-up to their performance, they have a videocall with competitor Hyolyn to find out more about the round, and the soloist offers to give them some advice in the lead-up to the round should they ever need it. The group take advantage of the opportunity, and when arriving at her dance studio decide to hide from her in plain sight, with members hiding behind curtains, pretending to be camerawomen and members of staff.

LOONA came to the stage covering SISTAR's "Shake It", but changing the number up to look like a performance from a musical theatre production.

Brave Girls are the third group to perform during the second round of the competition.

In the lead-up to the competition, the group became the second set to suffer from COVID-19 quarantine measures. Although this would not cause them to miss the round, it did mean that they would have a greatly reduced amount of time to prepare, and that they could still have vocal struggles from symptoms of the virus.

Brave Girls came to the stage covering Kep1er's "MVSK", and showering the audience with thousands of dollars of fake Brave Brothers dollars from their heist.

The second round of "Queendom 2" continues on Thursday at 9:20 p.m. KST.
