K-Pop Throwback with TVXQ!’s ‘Mirotic’

For this K-pop throwback time, the track I’d like to look at is the successful ‘Mirotic’.

From the boy-group TVXQ!— featuring the members; JAEYOONG, YOOCHUN, JUNSU, CHANGMIN, and YUNHO— the single is the title track of the seventh studio album released on September 26, 2008, and the last one for the members: JAEYOONG, YOOCHUN, and JUNSU

A best-selling album with 110,000 copies sold in only one week and topped the Hanteo charts and became the first Korean album in for s from Seo Taiji’s ‘7th Issue’ (2004) to soldsell over 541,000 copies by 2014.

The track talks about a dangerous love, with the lyrics demanding ‘What is love?’, telling there’s no way out for the fatal attraction of love ‘You can’t escape, I got you Under my Skin’, is ththe chorus that is repeated throughout the entire song.

The melody is catchy and a little bit sexy, which is great since it melts with the track’s meaning. The chorus is powerful and gives energy to the entire song, causing a strong but very intimate atmosphere.

The official music video tells the story of all members chained up and locked in a glass prison by a mysterious and veiled woman. In the end, they break out of their chains and escaped.
