LIYVZ Gets Bold and Blunt in Sassy New Single 'Nasty Boy'

The rising K-Pop artist tackles age-gap relationships and red-flag behavior with sharp wit and sultry R&B sounds

After over a year of silence following her previous single “Bloom”, independent K-Pop artist LIYVZ  is back and she’s not pulling any punches. Her newest release “Nasty Boy” dropped on August 22 and is already turning heads for both its addictive chorus and its unapologetically pointed message.

Blending smooth Korean R&B with playful, flirty energy, “Nasty Boy” contrasts smooth, nostalgic vocals with bold, no-nonsense lyrics. The inspiration, according to LIYVZ, came from a stark realization about a past romantic encounter with a much older man.

“I had just turned 26, and I realized that I was now the same age as a guy who had tried to ‘date’ me when I was 18. I was immediately disgusted,” she shared. “Music felt like the best way to process that.”

True to her signature style, LIYVZ weaves between English and Korean throughout the track, speaking directly to the younger audience she knows will relate. She describes the song as both a cathartic release and a cautionary tale for those just beginning to explore the dating world - especially those involving power dynamics.

The single also marks new creative territory for the artist, being her first release that openly addresses a personal past relationship. But LIYVZ isn't shying away from controversy she’s charging into it with intent. She comes in bolder than ever, authentically herself and not afraid to challenge the stigma that K-Pop artists aren't allowed to be opinionated about the things that matter.

While “Nasty Boy” deals with a serious topic, it’s far from heavy-handed. With an infectious hook and a cheeky attitude, the track is both empowering and effortlessly catchy with a nostalgic, 2000's pop sound.

Whether you’re here for the message or the music (or both), “Nasty Boy” cements LIYVZ’s role as one of the new voices in K-Pop pushing the boundaries of the genre, and doing it with flair.
